Our Work

We at READ India, partner with marginalised communities to create intervention programmes in different areas like women empowerment, livelihood training, education, health awareness, life-skills development and ICT; and implement these programmes through our dedicated knowledge centres spread across the nation. In order to bring about a positive change in their lives and to help them face the challenges of the future with confidence.

Women empowerment

READ India focuses on empowering women by building their skills, capacities and assets, and creating an enabling environment with stakeholders committed to their socio-economic development.

ICT Training

Providing accessibility to ICT (Information and Communication Technology) tools and learning on basics and advanced use of technology for suitable employability in rural India is the core objective of READ India.

Exhibitions

Exhibitions are organised during the festival seasons. READ India is conscious of encouraging women from various READ Knowledge Centres to participate in these exhibitions and display their hand-made products.

Health awareness

The lack of access and availability of washrooms is a prevalent problem in many rural areas across India. Women have been disproportionately affected due to the risk of contracting Urinary Tract Infections. They are also prone to sexual assault in outdoor situations, where they are quite vulnerable.

Education interventions

Education is the key to empowering communities, especially children, women and girls from marginalised communities. READ India’s education interventions aim to improve reading and writing habits, while also offering courses such as English and digital learning, coaching classes, and early childhood education.

Livelihood Training

READ Knowledge Centres have dedicated space for creating environment and infrastructure for age-appropriate livelihood skills.

Youth skilling

According to the census, 50% of India’s population is below 25 years. It can pay a huge demographic dividend for the nation. Conversely, if not harnessed this power, it can turn out to be a demographic bomb.  Today’s workforce, especially the young workforce, most of it is in urban areas or in developing areas of the states.

Volunteering at Read India

READ India has developed a robust system to support employee volunteering programmes under CSR.
